What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy uses the natural inclination of the mind to process information internally in order to create deep and lasting change. By communicating with the unconscious mind directly, hypnotherapy enables the mind to shift and move into new and more productive ways of thinking and behaving.

The style used by me is a very gentle way of helping the unconscious mind of the client to find and put into place its own best solutions. The gentle nature of the approach often means that the mind will willingly embrace any changes and move them smoothly into everyday life.

What to expect…

Hypnotherapy uses the natural way that we switch off from time to time during the day to create a dialogue with the mind and opening the doorways to change as wanted by the client. If you have ever found yourself gazing out of a window or even not remembering a familiar journey then you have already experienced that useful ability to go inside where its more interesting.

Most people find the experience relaxing, and relaxation is the most common way, but not the only way of experiencing hypnotherapy.

What can hypnotherapy be useful for?

Just about anything! However it is most commonly associated with phobias, fears and anxieties, trauma, PTSD, healing the past, goal setting, learning new skills, preparing for future events such as a driving test or other exam etc.

FAQs

Is hypnotherapy like stage hypnosis?

Not really. Stage hypnotists work only with those people who are ready to play and be involved as all hypnotism and hypnotherapy can only be done with the agreement of the person’s mind.

How does the therapist know what to say during a session?

Many therapists will work with a script, however I find that the most profound changes that clients look for comes from using something that is unique and tailored just for them. I do this by having an in depth conversation with the client at the beginning of the session and weaving their words into the hypnosis.

What will it feel like?

People do experience a hypnotherapy session in different ways and all ways are valid and correct for that particular person. However often a pleasantly comfortable or relaxed feeling is encouraged in the body as this has its own benefits.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no fixed number of sessions as each person is treated as an individual so it really depends on how far and how fast each person wishes to go as there is always more that can be done. Generally I will ask for a person to go and experience the changes that they have made and then to return with some feedback so that we can take it to the next level.
